In a recent notification, NITI Aayog has sought suggestions from various
stakeholders to improve and modernize the pharmaceutical and biotechnology
sectors in India. They are particularly focusing on areas like regulatory frameworks,
investment, and research & development to enhance India’s position in the global
market, besides strengthening the country’s self-reliance in Health care domain.
As a follow up Federation of Asian Biotechnology Associations (FABA) has
organized a round table discussion on the challenges faced by the stakeholders in
navigating the regulatory framework and the reforms needed to enhance the ease of
doing business in the country at YSR Hall, School of Life Sciences, University of
Hyderabad on 3 May 2025. The round table was attended by the representatives
from Academia, Pharma and Biopharma industries. The gist of recommendations,
based on the discussions as well as inputs received via email, are provided below.
